Small, self-contained, checkable
The credential vault calls Windows DPAPI directly, so the whole project restores and builds with no NuGet packages at all. The portal discovery and authentication path runs against a fake captive portal in 40 tests — 302 redirects, login pages served inline, meta-refresh splash screens, session cookies, hidden fields, and wrong-password rejection.

Is my VIT ID and password safe?
Yes. Credentials are encrypted with Windows DPAPI, scoped to your Windows user account, and are never written to disk or logs in plaintext. Only your signed-in Windows account, on your own machine, can decrypt them.
Do I have to configure the portal address?
No — that's the point. It reads the login form off the portal at the moment it intercepts you, so there's no endpoint or field name for you to look up. Advanced users can override it in Settings, but it starts empty.
Will it log me in on every network?
No. It stays passive on any network whose name it doesn't recognize as VIT Wi-Fi, and it only acts when it detects the captive portal actually needs authentication.
What if it doesn't sign me in?
The tray tooltip tells you what it's doing, and View log in the tray menu has the detail. The two usual causes are a Wi-Fi name that isn't in your list (add it in Settings — matching ignores case, dashes and underscores) and a portal whose login form it couldn't read, which the log will say plainly.
Do I need to keep anything installed?
No — the download is fully self-contained. Run the exe, set your ID and password once, and it minimizes to the tray. "Start with Windows" is on by default and can be turned off in Settings.
Is this an official VIT tool?
No. It's an independent, open-source utility that automates the standard portal login using your own credentials. It does not bypass or interfere with VIT's network controls.
